Services

Most copywriters guarantee great writing. Error free. Fluid. Concise. They probably save you time too, by taking tasks like blogs, web copy and sales letters off your hands.

And yep – I’m no different.

But where I am different than most wordsmiths is I believe there’s a lot more that your copywriter should be doing.

You see, my real goal as your Word Butler is to help your business become the very best version of itself. And make more money, of course.

To do this, I use a process I call the Word Butler Quill. Here’s how it works:

  • Questions
  • Understanding
  • Ideas
  • Love
  • Leads

Questions

Asking the right questions at the start of our process can mean the difference between copy that merely informs and copy that really compels and sells.

This sounds simple, but not everyone does it. To know your business as well as I need to, I take this process seriously. Unlike most copywriters who’ll give you a cookie cutter client form to fill in, I spend time designing questions that relate directly to you and your business.

We can talk however suits us best. Face-to-face over coffee. A Skype if we’re crossing time zones. Or my personal favourite – a long walk around the cliffs near my house. (Nothing gets conversation flowing like a lungful of sea air)

Understanding

The answers you give will shape the next stage. I’ve got to admit, I’m a bit of a research geek (comes from my past as a university lecturer). I immerse myself in the process of looking deeply into your competition, your target market, your ideal customer and the current state of your industry. Building up a deep and detailed understanding of these is vital to writing copy that will position you in just the right way.

Ideas

Once I’ve done my research, the ideas start flowing. Not just for the project we’re working on either.

You see I like to get inside your business and know it (nearly) as well as you do. When I do this, I’ll be sure to see a few other possibilities. As well as helping dozens of clients grow their businesses, I’ve built profitable companies of my own. So my ideas come from a blend of creative thinking and real world experience.

The benefit? You don’t just get my great copy. You get a bunch of other ideas to help your business grow. Take them or leave them – they’re free and they’re all part of the Word Butler service.

(I will admit to slight ulterior motives. Clients who get these extra ideas soon see the value in having a Word Butler as a long-term growth partner.)

Love

Love? What’s that got to do with marketing? Well… a lot actually. If your communications are going to be effective, you need to make sure they’re making a strong emotional connection with your audience. You need more than correctly placed apostrophes’ to do that. And you’ll probably need more than 101 different ways to list your product’s benefits too.

This is the part of my job I love the most. Telling great stories. Finding a voice that your customers will relate to. Getting to the heart of why you do what you do* and helping other people see that too.

Yes, I’ll be sure to give people every single rational reason they should choose you. But science tells us we make most of our decisions from a deeper place. So I’ll make damn sure we’re tapping into that too.

*Just so you know, if your ‘why’ is solely money, we’re probably not a good fit.

Leads

When it all comes down to it, my job is to draw more customers into your business. To get you more sales. Not everyone is comfortable selling. And not everyone does it right. I’ll help you find a way that’s appropriate for your business – that will get customers buying, subscribing or committing without scaring them away. We’re going for long-term relationships here, not single hit fixes.

I’ll also look at all your current sales funnels and work with you to get them delivering as effectively as they can. As part of the process, we’ll explore other avenues we could be pursuing to get even more customers.

So here we are. Bottom line. The Word Butler QUILL will help your business grow and make more money. And hopefully we’ll have a bit of fun along the way.
